Needed some Filipino touches for a special dinner I was hosting. This place was great@.
The Orange Chicken was delicious. The Service was great and the servings were large. We had a limited amount of time before heading to the airport but it was no problem our food was served quickly.
I have been lamenting the closing of the awesome Fililpino restaurant at 225 and Mississippi not only because of their delicious food, but because it was one of the best places to find Ube products. If you know, you know. We dined at the Yolee J restaurant next door to Lotus market. While we had a pretty "meh" experience with dinner, I suggested we stop by the market afterward and I'm very glad we did. They had a PLETHORA of Ube items, along with most of the staple items we are most likely to pick up at H Mart or Great Wall without the massive check out lines those grocery stores seem to always have. The lady running the cash register was also very friendly and quick.
A "hidden" gem. It's in an unassuming location. I was in the area for work and decided to do a Yelp search for "Filipino" - Thank you YELP and the person that added this business to help, allowing me to search and find this business. Clean and organized. They had a TON of Filipino Goods!!! Delicious bakery goods from Goldilocks and Red Ribbon. They had my family's favorites, like, tito al's chicharrones, butong pawkwan, tons of ube treats, the line of mama sita's seasonings. Filipino foods, entrees and snacks in the freezer section as well. All of the ingredients needed to make, pancit, adobo (minus the meat), sinigang, fried rice and more. The store is PACKED with many goodies to choose from. We arrived close to closing time and the owners were still so welcoming. I wish I lived closer for the selection and service!
So we were passing through, stopped by to load up on some Filipino shtuff. We passed by some Longanisa... no label, just a price tag. We grabbed one. My man was like, "Is that home made?!" WE KILLED IT TONIGHT! It was BOMB BAY! Whomever or where that came from, THANK YOU! Our sawsawan and eggs were on point too. We're going to sleep very happy to be burping this good shtuff all night long! (Ga nisa.... )
Had exactly what I needed and they were super friendly and helpful. Recommend!!! Will definitely be back!
This is hands down the best store for Filipino goods in the Denver Metro Area. Tum, the shop owner is sweet and friendly. Here is where I get all my vegetable ingredients for sinigang, as they are not all available at Pacific Ocean Market down the street. Lotus Asian carries okra, petsay (bok choy), talong (eggplant), labanos (Daikon radish), and sitaw (long beans). They also carry sitsaro (flat snow pea pods used in pansit), and gabi (taro) for your nilaga. Not to mention, you can buy bulk garlic for cheap! This place also has some non-Filipino goods such as Japanese seasonings, and Indian curry mixes. Best of all, here is where I get my favorite snacks! They have chips that fill me with nostalgia, like Roller Coaster, Chiz Curlz, Clover, and Piattos; ice cream flavors such as ube macapuno and corn cheese (mais con queso), and they have my favorite guyabano juice and crinkles cookies. I do wish that they carried malunggay for Tinola and Japanese dried seaweeds like wakame and kombu. But I still maintain that Lotus Asian is the BEST place for mainly Filipino groceries in the area. Go check them out!
Lotus Asian Market is my Filipino grocery store dream come true! All of the chicharron (with meat), Goldilocks desserts, Magnolia ice cream, Filipino breakfast meats, and Mama Sita spices I could ever want are here. Actually a decent sized store and prices are fair - not cheap because they never are, but we walked out with a good amount of things for less than $50. Not too bad. The lady at the counter was friendly and kind, but my boyfriend did notice a gentleman following his every move while we were walking around inside. I guess this isn't in the best of all neighborhoods, still - not cool and lost them a star. I am willing to give them the benefit of a doubt and see if he gets this same treatment the next time we come.
Clean Asian Market. I make a monthly visit to my favorite little Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese and Filipino for all my favorite Asian Cuisines. I can find fresh Noodles, Baby Bok Choy, Mint, Cilantro, Thai Basil, Cabbage, Ginger, Peppers, Bamboo Shoots and Vietnamese Opo Squash. The Vietnamese Opo Squash Soup is one of the most traditional soups made in Vietnam. My mother made it for me every time I wasn't feeling well. It's also a must have for women after they give birth. The soup is called Canh Bau Tom and you can eat it with rice, noodles or just plain. The market is run buy a very kind and helpful Thai couple who carries all of my heavy and bulky containers to my car. The store is the cleanest Asian market I have ever seen in the world. The husband manages the store very well by clearing all the old stuff off the shelves, so I don't have to worry about things being there to long. I usually buy cases of Coconut Water, Hawaiian Soft Drinks and Soy Milk every month. If you would buy these drinks anywhere else they would cost you so much more. The isles are packed full of my favorite Curries, Sauces, Soups, Rice and Noodles. The market also carries lots of frozen fish, pork, sausages, pre-made egg rolls, wrappers for egg rolls and desserts.
This evening right after work, I ask Hubs to drive to this place. At first we went to the "OLD" address, unfortunately, the place were empty. The "OLD" address, I found it through the YellowPages. I was disappointed. But then I told Hubs why not we drive around the neighborhood and see what's there to offer. Lo and behold, I saw a LARGE Signage, named Asian Market. So I told Hubs, why not we check out this place. So here we were. I was indeed a happy camper and like a kid in a candy store jumping with joy and excitement. Since I got to purchase several items for the pantry and at least satisfy my Asian cravings... This store is preciously located on a different address. After we spoke to the lovely lady, I guess, she is one of the owner. We chat for awhile and we found out that she is from Thailand. She told us, she moved to this new location and have been running this store at this new location for 5 months already. This place is kept very clean and the items are reasonably price. They stocked up, lots of bags of rice, canned foods, snacks, frozen foods, vegetables in the cooler sections and Asian spices for your cooking needs. The items they sold here are from Asian Countries, like Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines to name a few. I cant wait to bring my parents especially my mum when they will be in town in the future. I will definitely return to this store for my Asian snacks galore or when I am craving for something Asian. I do hope, Lotus Asian Market will be around many more years to come. Do share your review if you are in the vicinity... New Address: LOTUS ASIAN MARKET 844 S Buckley Rd Aurora, CO 80017 (303)-752-3235
